Buff City Soap: The Best Products and What to Buy - Welcome (1)

You may or may not have stumbled upon Buff City Soap in the past few years or months, but one thing is certain— if you’ve stumbled across it, you probably love it.

I found myself in the same boat last fall, after being gifted one of their mystery gift boxes. It’s a mix of their most popular items in sample size, and it was agreatintroduction to the brand. This box definitely left me wanting more, and I fell down a rabbit hole of trying the products. (side note, I think they only sell these mystery boxes in store at this time!)

They havea lotof locations across the south, and you can also purchase any of their products to ship straight to you. Until recently, their site was completely sold out, but this post is coming just in time for their big restock. I love that Buff City Soap is a small business, it’s such a nice small business alternative to bath and body products.

Today I am rounding up the best Buff City Soap products, my favorite scents and all things Buff City Soap. Make sure to leave a comment below if I don’t answer something you’re curious about!

The Best Buff City Soap Scents

Most of their products come in most of the scents— that’s definitely the first thing to know. Especially in store, you can get almost anything in your favorite scent. Scents of the laundry detergent can even be mixed in store to create your perfect. custom blend. Here are my favorite and the highest rated Buff City Soap scents.

They are still in the process of restocking their scents online, but my hope is for this post to be a resource for months and years to come.

Narcissist

This is by far the most popular scent from Buff City Soap. It’s so good, the perfect mix between masculine and feminine. It’s got all the right notes of those classic, manly scents without being too overpowering. Almost anyone, male or female, would like this scent in my opinion.

Coconut

If you’re completely unsure about scents, I can’t see how you wouldn’t like this scent. Sweet but not too sweet. It’s my favorite.

Breathe

Bright and refreshing, this scent is so good for body wash, shampoo bars and anything else shower related. It wakes us right up! The site describes it as peppermint and fresh air, with hints of rosemary— how unique is that?

Cherry Almond

This is the sweetest scent I can handle, and just a warning, it’s definitely sweet. It smells so good to me, though. Perfect for a bath bomb, body butter or scrub.

Magnolia

This scent is feminine and floral, it’s the perfect scent for foaming hand soap in the guest bath and more. I would love to have a candle in this scent.

The Best Products

Laundry Detergent, $18

This is one of the most popular Buff City Soap products and for good reason. The Buff City Soap Laundry Detergent is amazing. It is free of all harsh chemicals and lasts so much longer and smells so much better than regular laundry detergent. One container is estimated for 30 loads of laundry, and I would definitely believe that.

When I first started using this, I wasn’t sure if I was mistakenly not using fabric softener or dryer sheets— well, good news. This completely replaces all those things, and it’s a one and done product.

Lastly, if I can tell you one thing about this laundry detergent, IT SMELLS AMAZING!!! Your sheets will smell luxuriously good, no matter which scent you choose.

I use the laundry scoop ($4) to evenly measure out the amount each time.

Wool Dryer Balls, $6 each

Along with the laundry detergent, these are amazing to keep your laundry smelling great. Wool dryer balls are great for reducing static, wrinkles and drying your clothes faster, but these also have the added bonus of a great scent.

I own these in the coconut scent, and it’s good to know that you can periodically take them back into any location to get them re-scented. I have been using mine diligently since late December, and it is now mid-March, and the scent is still going strong.

These are sold separately, I would recommend buying 2-3. They’re on the larger end of dryer balls.

The Buff City Soap dryer balls also smell amazing in your car to keep a good smell lasting for a long, long time.

Bar Soap, $7

Ugh, the holy grail. It isn’t often that someone new comes over to my house and doesn’t comment on how great this bar soap is. We have it on the soap dish ($7.50), which we also love.

You can’t go wrong with any of the scents above, but our favorite is definitely the coconut.

To note, Preston and my brother both don’t like using this for body wash in the shower, but I do. It’s definitely a good bet to use as hand soap.

Foaming Hand Soap, $7

The foaming hand soaps are amazing. I use these in our kitchen, and it truly leaves your hands smelling so nice and feeling so soft. I also get a ton of comments on this soap!

This seems superficial, but the packaging is also super pleasing. I love that it is low profile and minimalistic.

Shampoo Bar, $7

** Update, as of June 2021, the buff city soap shampoo bar has been discontinued. I have seen a comment from the official Buff City Soap Instagram account stating that they are exploring other shampoo options at this time.

My husband uses this, but I do not. I personally need more salon quality shampoo, but I need to actually give this one a try when I don’t have anywhere to go or anything specific to do.

For my husband though, this is great. It eliminates all unnecessary packaging and lasts a good while. His lasted about 1.5 months, but it’s well worth it to use to limit excess packaging for normal shampoo.

We weren’t exactly even sure how this worked, but he has a nifty, circular tray for it, lathers it on his hands and on his hair and viola! It honestly doesn’t take much to really get a good lather— the first time he usedwaytoo much and quickly realized that less is more. It leaves his hair smelling sooo good, so it’s really a treat for me too!

Bath Bombs, $7

These are incredible. The only downside is the colorful ones can non-permanently discolor/stain my bathtub, but that happens with any colored bath bomb. It’s easy to clean off, but I also just lean more toward to neutral colored ones like coconut.

Soap Whip, $15

This is one of the items that’s definitely unique to Buff City Soap. We had personally never heard of it before, but now we are obsessed. It’s hard to describe the texture of this, but it’s fairly close to coconut oil that isn’t melted down.

My husband uses this for his main body wash, and again, it smells so good. It’s one of those items you just have to try to really understand, but I’m certain you will be hooked.

The price might seem high for the size of this product, but I promise it lasts so long. It takes so little each time you use.

Shower Fizzies, $7

My husband doesn’t take baths, but he still loves a good shower experience. These just go in the base of your shower and bathtub and release amazing smell throughout your entire shower. Personally, our entire house smells incredible whenever he uses one of these.

Bath Truffle, $7

These are sort of similar to the bath bomb, but it definitely doesn’t bob and fizz nearly as much. What it lacks in performance, it makes up for it feel. You will leave the bath completely lathered and feeling like you just put ona lotof lotion. It’s so luxurious and nice.

Chap Stick

I do not see this online, but if you live near a store, definitely pick one up. It’s Preston’s favorite chapstick, and he is chapstick obsessed.

Product I Tried + Didn’t Love

The singular product I don’t personally love (that I have tried) is the body butter. It’s a little bit too thick for my preference, but I know some people prefer that.
